Climate Study Shows Catastrophic Future On Earth


We all know that we only get one earth, just one beautiful little blue and green planet swimming in an immense sea of stars we call the universe.


If you are reading this you likely human just as myself. And as wonderful as we Humans can be, we do have some less than fortunate attributes as a society in whole. If you were to look at our very best attributes being love, kindness, and connectedness.. I would like to pause for one moment to bring to the forefront of your mind that we humans have the great ability to learn from other's mistakes, without actually having to walk same path or share the same shoes. This one idea could change the entire future. 

Globally scientists have been signaling the alarms for a long time about atmospheric warming of our earth due to industrialization. At the current rate of human C02 emission it's increasingly likely that we will cause irreversible damage to our planets fragile ecological systems. It took millions of years for the earth to evolve exactly the way it is today, supporting life and teetering in a delicate balance of earth, water, ice and snow. According to a new comprehensive international Study released Wednesday our Earth's climate is well on track to see dramatic increases in C02 abundancy in our atmosphere sooner than we would like. 

Unlike other gases, C02 absorbs heat and energy and does not release. This is one of the most concerning topics to researchers because of how sensitive our Earths ecosystems and climates are, even the smallest changes in temperatures will ultimately cause global effects. At given rates of C02 accumulation in the troposphere the warming is unlikely to end up on the low side of estimates. 


Human activities like burning coal, gas, deforestation and creation of smog push carbon dioxide to levels never seen before. Earth’s global temperature will most likely increase in the range of 4.1 to 8.1 degrees Fahrenheit (2.3 and 4.5 degrees Celsius). The previous and long-standing estimated range of climate sensitivity, as first laid out in a 1979 report, was 2.7 to 8.1 degrees Fahrenheit (1.5 to 4.5 Celsius). 

Even if warming reaches the mid-range on this scale the effects could be devastating according to Kate Marvel, a physicist at NASA’s Goddard Institute of Space Studies and Columbia University, she say's is is the equivalent of a “five-alarm fire” for our planet. 

This estimation shows a 95% chance that a doubling of C02 will occur with-in the next five decades causing a 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit (2 degrees Celsius) raise in temperatures globally. Even this small change can cause disruptive sea level rising, extreme heatwaves, hurricanes and permanent damage to our worlds ecosystems. 

Only is emission cuts are made and the foundation of thought is changed in our next generations is there a hope that the doubling of carbon dioxide levels could be averted. This research by 25 researchers from has been published in the journal Reviews of Geophysics as the result of a four-year effort supported by the World Climate Research Program. 

All Evidence Points In the Same Direction

At the present carbon dioxide exists in the atmosphere at 415 parts per million, preindustrial levels occurred at roughly 280 parts per million. That being said with only 100 years of our early industrialization as the human species we've already made our mark on Earth's atmospheric composition. We are roughly halfway to doubling what our earth's natural carbon dioxide levels and warming at this level has been estimated to cause a 1 degree Celsius (1.8 degrees Fahrenheit) rise in global temperatures. Understanding that our business model evolutions moving into the future and that preemptive practices that can easily be put in to place will not only change the future, but it will open new doorways to innovation that any smart business person can identify early, jumping on this bus early could be a very lucrative move.
